The Rea Pioneer agency originated in 1947 when Oliver Rea became a Pioneer dealer in Bernard, Iowa. Oliver ran the business out of a shed next to his house, which was in the same location as the current Rea Seed shed. After 15 years as the local Pioneer sales rep, Oliver passed the business down to his son, Pat Rea, in 1962. Pat ran the business out of his garage at his current house before he built a seed shed next to the garage.  In 1989, Pat brought his nephew, Michael Rea, on to help the business. In 2001, after 39 years in the Pioneer sales rep role, Pat passed the business onto Mike Rea, Rea Seed. Mike has since been the Bernard area Pioneer Sales Representative for 23 years. In 2011, Mike built the new and current Rea Seed shed at the farm that he not only grew up at, but where Oliver & Pat also grew up. In 2016, Calvin Rea, Mike’s son, was hired to run the Cascade area Pioneer business and joined Mike at the Rea Seed shed warehouse. The business has evolved into selling Pioneer corn & soybeans, chemicals, soybean seed treatment, custom farming, soil sampling, aerial application, crop insurance, Rea Trucking & crop farming. The team is made up of the owner, Mike Rea, Calvin Rea, Tony Rea (Mike’s brother and owner of Rea Trucking & Rea Crop Insurance Services), and Mike’s daughter, Claire Brown.
